2 hard weeks left

Time seems to be moving quickly as Steve has only 2 weeks of treatments to go. He was doing quite well until this past week which is usually what is expected. But Steve has unfortunately broken out with shingles on one side of his beautiful face, ear, nose, mouth included. He is just miserable and looks the part. this is not helping the already difficult and daunting task of trying to get in nutrients and plenty of fluid. It is sad to see him in so much pain. They finally got it diagnosed and he has started all sorts of meds including morphine for the pain. Had to spend another 5 hours in the ER because his temp was up but they figure it is the shingles that is probably causing temp as his blood count remains ok. Thanks for all the calls, prayers , and support. It means a lot believe me. Mary has continued to prepare wonderful wholesome, healthy food for us that has been a Godsend ! Jadon is spending nights away from Mindi and helping get Steve to and from MDA and Dylan is filling in and working out details whether at home or travelling. Amazing people our sons and their wives. And Kacey and Julie have grandbaby #3 in the cooker!!! So exciting...except they couldn't make the planned trip over because of the chickenpox threat with shingles. Bummer. We miss them. All in all this was a very difficult week but it is something that has to be done and we will get through it. Steve still has a lot of fight in him although it's more camoflaged now...It is hard to be spunky when you feel so awful. But he is able to get out a one liner every now and then to keep us on our toes. Be glad when he is able to smile again and feels like doing so! Hope you all are taking time for yourselves and loved ones and are getting out to enjoy this incredible Fall. It is one of the best!

moving along

Wow! One week down and 5 to go. Actually as Steve points out, only 4 more Tuesdays to go. Incredible. He seems to be doing well. We are so thankful that Jadon is here to go with him to Houston everyday. I miss being with him but work is busy and I need to be there also so it is great to have Jadon here. We have had great visits from friends and all in all we are moving through the process, prayerful and confident that he will soon be a cancer survivor! Hope you and yours are well and healthy...stay that way! Eat your fruits & veggies and love your life and self. It becomes acutely obvious that this IS it folks...Enjoy and love as much as you can. Thanks for checking in on us and for keeping us in your prayers. It means a lot
