It's a Marathon, Not a Sprint

Ever since Steve's diagnosis on August 26, I've struggled with a vague since of urgency - start treatment NOW! One of my learnings from this process is that it is going to be a marathon, not a sprint, and right now, we're still warming up on the sidelines. Steve will be taking lots of trips to MD Anderson this month as he goes through a battery of tests to build a complete picture of the cancer. He also has the happy job of building up his fat stores to make sure his body has plenty of energy reserves to draw on when treatment does begin! That's right - Steve has a directive to gain weight now, mostly to help offset the depletion that will happen later and to make sure he's in top cancer-fighting-condition.

Special Weekend

Being together with all my family for the weekend was very special and truly a lift for my soul and spirit. We talked much, played board games, sailed, motorboated, ate cake & ice cream, had visits from Jim & Carolyn Landers, Scotty, Scott Bosard, rode in the golf cart, talked about everything under the sun, including esophageial cancer and becoming a cancer survivor. Thanks to each and everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Love IS the healing power and I have more love than I could have ever imagined.
